Intuition in the Kitchen
One of my favorite things about being a chef is sharing my knowledge with others. When I was a sous chef, I enjoyed teaching green cooks new techniques, demonstrating plating, imparting my knowledge and trying to build their intuitions and confidence in the kitchen.
Recipes can be important, but they aren’t the be-all and end-all of cooking. In fact, think about how often your grandma cooks and rarely uses a recipe – most people throughout history simply didn’t rely on them. Once you have built an intuition for cooking, recipes will become an inspiration for something delicious, not just a shopping list and strict instructions. Let me show you how to be more comfortable in the kitchen. You don’t need a bunch of fancy gadgets to make something beautiful and delicious. We’ll plan a class based on your skill level, practice some techniques, and make some dishes together with plenty of leftovers for a few meals. It will be fun and informative and you’ll come away from the class feeling confident. After the class, feel free to email me any questions you forgot to ask during our time together.
So what do you want to learn? How to use and sharpen a knife like a pro? How to make great soups without a recipe? Make pasta? How to make pickles or fermented food? How to cook full meals with the bits and pieces left in your fridge? Let your imagination run wild, we can plan a class based on anything!
Cooking classes are also great for bachelorette parties, birthday parties, as a birthday/anniversary gift, for kids interested in food, and couples who want to cook more together. Send me an email via the contact form to get started today.
